Illuminating the Land

A Glass Exploration of West Penwith’s Monoliths

This project is a luminous journey into the heart of Cornwall’s ancient landscape, transforming the standing stones and geology of West Penwith into vibrant stained and kiln-formed glass interpretations. My work seeks to capture the silent presence of these megalithic markers and what lies beneath—Rocks- the guardians of time, weathered and hidden witnesses to centuries of us.
I aim to weave together landscape, symbolism, and the unconscious, to bridge the tangible and the mystical.
This project is a personal exploration—an opportunity to expand my creative practice by developing new skills in stained and kiln-formed glass. Through this medium, I can experiment with light, colour, and form, reflecting my evolving relationship with Cornwall’s ancient sites.
By illuminating these monolithic structures through stained glass, I hope to offer a fresh perspective—one that celebrates the interplay of light and stone, past and present, tradition and reinvention.
